Boundary Change Information

"New boundaries for Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) in North Lancashire and Cumbria are confirmed for 2017"
See below for Archive information that led to the boundary change which took place from 1/4/2017.
NHS Cumbria Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and NHS Lancashire North Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) have written to partner organisations and stakeholders to inform them of a proposal they are considering on redrawing the boundaries of the two CCGs.
This could see the practices in Furness and South Lakes becoming part of a new ‘Morecambe Bay CCG’. The discussions have been prompted by the clear development of two health systems – one in West, North and East Cumbria and the other in Morecambe Bay (North Lancashire and South Cumbria). For many years patients from these areas have accessed specialised services either in the north east or north west of England respectively.
Recently the two parts of Cumbria have been placed in different NHS planning areas or ‘Sustainability and Transformation Plan footprints’ as they are called. As part of the Success Regime in the north and the Better Care Together Programme in the south, we are looking to develop much greater integration of health and care services, including primary care. Because of this it looks like the right time to make these boundary changes, which will support both service integration and planning.
Discussions are at an early stage and we want to know your thoughts. If you have any feedback or questions please contact: Communications.Team@CumbriaCCG.nhs.uk
