Need a repeat prescription? Then be prepared for Easter

Posted on Thursday 10th April 2014

Ahead of the Easter Bank Holiday weekend people are being asked to be prepared and make sure that they have any repeat medication as GP surgeries across Cumbria will be shut from the evening of Thursday April 17 until the morning of Tuesday April 22, 2014.

During this time Cumbria Health on Call (CHoC) will be providing URGENT Out of hours GP Service. To access CHoC call 03000 247 247.

People are asked to be sensible and only contact CHoC if they have an urgent problem which cannot wait until their GP surgery reopens.

Patients who may require a repeat prescription over the bank holidays or weekends need to organise this in advance to ensure they have all the medication they need to cover themselves over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

Visitors or patients who are not registered with a GP practice in the county can access GP services by dialling 111.

Although GP practices will be closed NHS primary care and community services will be available throughout Cumbria.

NHS Cumbria Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) Medical Director, Dr David Rogers said: “As the tourist season begins in Cumbria we would like to remind people who are not registered with a GP in the county that they can access these services via the NHS 111 number, however those registered with a local doctor should continue to use their GP practice when available or CHoC out of hours."

For less urgent health needs contact a local pharmacist.
