Abbey Road Surgery Update - 27 May 2016

Posted on Friday 27th May 2016

Work at Abbey Road Surgery is likely to take several weeks and plans are being put in place to support patients who may be affected.

Reception will remain open at Abbey Road along with a couple of treatment rooms.

Patients should still use the main number on 01229 821 599. The surgery can be contacted online and Reception in the extension area at the Practice remains open for patients picking up prescriptions and making appointments.

Murrays Pharmacy in Friars Lane and Atkinson Health Centre in Market Street have been very supportive of the surgery and have offered consultation and treatment rooms to be used over the next couple of weeks.

Patients will be informed where their appointment will be when they make it, appointments will be with one of their own GPs or Nurses.

Anyone who has already made an appointment before the problem was discovered will be contacted to confirm the location of their appointment.

Abbey Road Surgery Practice Manager Janet May said: “We are very grateful to patients who have coped with the disruption, and to our colleagues in Barrow who have offered us alternative accommodation. The support has been very much appreciated.”

Work needs to be carried out on the front of the building and it is likely that the disruption may continue for several weeks and the practice is looking for a more long term practical solution and will update patients as soon it can.
