Medical Director takes on Chief Clinical Officer role

NHS Cumbria Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has appointed Dr David Rogers as Chief Clinical Officer, also known as the Accountable Officer, until March 2018. Dr Rogers is currently the CCG’s Medical Director. The appointment was approved by the CCG Governing Body and Simon Stevens, the Chief Executive of NHS England at the end of December.
Dr Rogers will continue to undertake his role as Medical Director, and will be supported in meeting his Accountable Officer responsibilities by Stephen Childs, Chief Executive, Peter Rooney, Chief Operating Officer and Charles Welbourn, Chief Finance Officer.
Dr Hugh Reeve will continue in his role as Clinical Chair of NHS Cumbria CCG.
Dr Rogers has been a GP in west Cumbria for many years and has significant clinical leadership experience.
