Abseil

A team made up of NHS and Cumbria County Council workers abseiled down the side of the Civic Centre in Carlisle on Sunday to raise money for charity.

The team of nine completed the challenge and raised more than £600, which will be donated to the Eden Valley Hospice.

The event was organised by staff from the Royal Oak in Scotby, near Carlisle, and brought together a number of groups from the local community to face the challenge. It is estimated that the event as a whole will raise around £3500 for Eden Valley Hospice.

Muriel Nixon, a Commissioning Manager from NHS North Cumbria Clinical Commissioning Group, led the team and said: “We all have family and friends who have suffered from cancer, and it is a pleasure to support our Eden Valley Hospice as you never know if you might need their support in the future.”
