Special Governing Body meeting of NHS North Cumbria Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to consider maternity review

Posted on Tuesday 25th June 2019

A meeting to consider a review into the safety and sustainability of consultant-led maternity services will be held next week.

An extraordinary meeting of NHS North Cumbria Clinical Commissioning Group’s Governing Body will be held on the 3rd of July at 1pm at Cleator Moor Civic Hall.

It follows the decision in March 2017 to spend a 12 month period reviewing maternity at the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven after the Healthcare For The Future public consultation in 2016.

An Independent Review Group chaired by Dr Bill Kirkup CBE, and made up of clinical experts in specialities including obstetrics, paediatrics and anaesthetics, has been reviewing progress.

The meeting will follow the same process as the one held in March 2017 and will be held in public.
